Himanta Biswa Sharma, on Sunday announced that Assam has conducted a milestone of 1 lakh COVID testing and will touch the figure of 2 lakhs by June 14.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, on Sunday announced that Assam has conducted a milestone of 1 lakh COVID testing and will touch the figure of 2 lakhs by June 14.

“Assam has developed capacity to test 10,000 people per day, which may be beyond imagination of many. We are going to achieve 2 lakhs tests either by 12 or 14 June” health minister said while speaking during a press conference.

Sharma also thanked the health department, Police department, District administrations for achieving this feat and demonstrating remarkable team work & discipline.

Sharing the breakup, minister said as on May 31, 2020, Jorhat Medical College tested – 12,732 samples, Silchar Medical College tested – 9111 samples, GMCH tested – 22,052, AMCH tested – 5146, TMCH tested – 12,450, FAAMCH tested – 22,054, RMRC tested – 12,905 and Outsourced – 4033. Total testing was – 100,483

According to the data shared by Himanta Biswa Sharma in his twitter, as on 5 pm of 31st May, 581 tests were done at Silchar Medical College with 412 more at process.

Extremely proud of my team for  achieving an impressive milestone of completing 1 lakh COVID testing. By June 15, we'll complete 2 lakh tests. Kudos to Assam Health Department for achieving this feat and demonstrating remarkable team work & discipline.
