Sunday,CM Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated The nest -Incubator for startups in guwahati.The nest is a first of its kind, state-owned incubator for startups, ‘The Nest’ has been set up in association with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIM-CIP).The nest aims to facilitate growth of at least 1000 new start-ups over the next five years and attract funding opportunities to the tune of USD 250 million for the start-ups of Assam.
On the inauguration ceremony,He said,“The start-up entrepreneurs will also get great opportunities for funding their projects. Dedicated mentorship and capacity enhancement training will be given at the incubation centre,”
He also said, Rs 12,000 crore has been invested in Assam out of the total Rs 79,000 crore committed during the Advantage Assam investment summit, which saw the signing of some 240 MoUs.
Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patwary said “wherever i have gone in the world i have come across Assamese youth taking leadership roles some prominent organizations and therefore this incubation centre would provide platform for the young entrepreneurs of assam with brilliant ideas to achieve greater things and generate employment in the state”.
