Supreme Court orders National Register of Citizens coordinator and Election commission of India to publish The Final draft of NRC in July 31,2019
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a register containing names of all real Indian voters residing in Assam.
Now NRC is being updated in Assam to include the names of those persons who’s name is appear in the NRC, 1951, or in any of the Electoral Rolls up to the midnight of 24 March 1971 or in any one of the other admissible documents issued up to mid-night of 24 March 1971.
The supreme court set a deadline for the final draft of National Register of Citizens in Assam.40 lakh people left out from the initial list who were then given a power to claims and objections.The supreme court said,final list has to be published by July 31 and no further extension will be allowed.
yesterday the supreme Court orders Assam Chief Secretary, State National Register of Citizens Coordinator Prateek Hajela, and Election Commission to meet within 7 days to decide how to conduct NRC verification hearings; the process for Lok Sabha elections might continue at the same time.
